At a crucial moment for the global climate debate, the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and the Arapyaú Institute organized an event to discuss the direction of COP30, with the presence of Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, president of the Conference in Belém and Counselor of CEBRI. During the meeting on March 31, the ambassador shared his vision on the main challenges and opportunities, highlighting the importance of collaboration among different sectors of society to achieve concrete solutions.
Moderated by Izabella Teixeira, counselor of CEBRI and fellow of the Arapyaú Institute, the meeting addressed issues such as climate financing, governance, and implementation of commitments. The opening was led by Julia Dias Leite, CEO of CEBRI, and Renata Piazzon, general director of the Arapyaú Institute, who emphasized the fundamental role of the public, private, academic, and civil society sectors for the success of COP30.
“Brazil has a unique opportunity to lead the global transformation towards a green economy. It is admirable to see the willingness of the COP president to engage in dialogue and the effort to bring actors who do not directly participate in negotiations to the action agenda,” emphasized Renata.
“COP30 represents a decisive moment for Brazil to consolidate its global climate leadership. This meeting reinforces our commitment to qualified dialogue and the development of concrete solutions for the environmental challenges we face,” added Julia Dias Leite, CEO of CEBRI.
