Climate Change

Climate change is real. A phenomenon that is already affecting economies, ecosystems and the lives of millions of people around the world. Confronting it is one of the major challenges of our times. But it is also a chance for us to build a sustainable and truly prosperous world, revolutionizing the way we live and relate to the environment of which we are part.

We believe that Brazil has the opportunity to be a leader in the construction of a low carbon economy. With an extensive and diverse territory, abundant water and an extraordinary natural heritage, the country has unique conditions to carry out the transformations that the world needs. To do this, it is necessary to show that it is possible to promote a new development model that reconciles agricultural and livestock production with environmental conservation.

In the Climate Change Programme, we support initiatives that contribute towards the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions related to land use, as well as initiatives aimed at sustainable land use.

STRATEGIES ADOPTED

1

Support the development and application of control instruments and mechanisms, monitoring and inspections that promote the sustainable use of the territory and compliance with legislation.

2

Support initiatives that mobilize diverse sectors of society and influence decision makers for the creation and enhancement of public policies related to land use.

3

Support economically viable and scalable innovative business models and market mechanisms that contribute to the conservation and restoration of forests and landscapes.
